Peter Collyer paints mostly in watercolour, on a small scale, the largest being no more than A4 and the smallest about 8x12 cms. They are executed over a light outline pencil drawing on 90 lb Bockingford watercolour paper. He works with Pro Arte Renaissance Sable brushes and Winsor and Newton Artists' Water Colour using the following colours; cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, burnt umber, burnt sienna, alizarin crimson, Prussian blue, cerulean blue and ivory black.
Occasionally, when the subject demands, he works in oil pastel on board, sometimes modified with coloured pencil. These are much larger pictures, about 50x75 cms, but when reduced in size to be viewed on this website look no different from his watercolours. Here is a comparison.
